Speaking of IPOs, remember all the talk about Pinterest? I remember the hype on this stock back in 2019. LOL.
IPO date 4/18/2019. IPO price $25. Today’s price $25. That’s a return of 0%.
I have to say, I’m surprised that today’s price is actually as high as $25. The sticker price of $6 is more reasonable.
There is a lesson to be learned here. Don’t follow IPO trends. IPOs are driven by emotions. In most cases, they lose money. In VERY RARE circumstances you’ll find a Zoom or a TransUnion. If you are looking at an IPO investment, make sure it’s profitable before going public (only 20% of companies are). Also make sure you understand the Meaning, Moat, and Management of the business.
